Former Pakistan pacer, Shoaib Akhtar, has suggested that incumbent captain, Babar Azam, should either resign as captain or get ready to become ‘Sarfaraz part two.’
Akhtar’s remarks come in light of media reports which claimed that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had completely disregarded Babar Azam’s suggestions for squad selection for the upcoming tour of South Africa.

While speaking at PTV Sports, Shoaib said, “I have heard that PCB had ignored Babar’s suggestions regarding squad selection,” adding that “Babar should resign as captain if that is the case.”
He warned Babar that if he doesn’t resign as captain after this episode, he will become ‘Sarfaraz part two.’
Shoaib added that Babar’s resignation will send PCB a strong message that this cannot happen again in the future.
Last week, Chief Selector, Mohammad Wasim, announced Pakistan’s squad for the upcoming tours of South Africa and Zimbabwe.
Media reports had claimed that Babar was unimpressed with certain names on the squad for the tour of South Africa and conveyed his grievances to the PCB Chief Executive, Wasim Khan.

However, PCB sources refuted the reports and asserted that all selections were made through mutual discussions between team management and Chief Selector.
Previously, Shoaib Akhtar had strongly criticized former captain, Sarfaraz Ahmed, for failing to stamp his authority in team selections and letting former head coach, Mickey Arthur, call the shots in the selection process during the wicketkeeper’s captaincy.
