In recent times, there has been plenty of Babar Azam vs Virat Kohli debate. The Indian captain is a proven genius, having been among the best batsmen of the previous decade. The Pakistani limited-overs captain, however, has recently stepped up his game across formats, and thus the comparisons.
The star batsman has expressed his desire to emulate Kohli, aiming to stay in the top 5 in all formats of the game. In an interaction with commentator Harsha Bhogle, on Cricbuzz, the 25-year-old said that he wants to win matches for his country as Kohli does for India.
He (Kohli) is one of the best players in the world whereas I have a lot to achieve at this moment. I want to be a player like him and win matches for my country.

Talking about his desire to become better by overcoming his mistakes and weaknesses, he said that he is never satisfied with his performances.
I always think about the mistakes that I made and how to work on them. I never tend to show off. I just look at the top five rankings and hope to stay there.
Babar agreed that his batting style is a little similar to Kohli’s, however, he tries to do things differently. He also said that he keeps an eye on the performances of players like Kohli and Steven Smith in different conditions and learns from them.
I track their performances in different conditions. I don’t play so that my name is taken with those prolific players. I just want to make myself, the fans and the team happy.
Babar Azam is currently the only batsman to be ranked in the top 5 rankings in all the formats.
