Creator of some of the most amazingly absurd sports cars in the world, Bugatti is regarded by a massive lot of automotive enthusiasts to be in a class of their own.

Some of their more exclusive products including Sport, Pur Sport, Vision GT, Centodieci, Divo, SuperSport 300+, and La Voiture Noire have been some of their most inspired work yet. However, Bugatti has gone on to add another fantastic exclusive motorsport beast to that list.

On October 28th, 2020, various media outlets reported that Bugatti had released the new Bolide hypercar. Reportedly, ‘Bolide’ is an Italian term used for ‘missile’ or meteoroids that move through space and explode into the atmosphere.

The name is done justice to by the numbers, as the vehicle features an 8.0-liter quad-turbocharged W16 engine that makes 1825 horsepower and 1850 newton/meters of torque. All of that power is sent to all four wheels via a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox, which enables this missile on wheels to go from a standstill to 100 km/h in 2.1 seconds.

Furthermore, the automaker has laid a great degree of emphasis on the power to weight ratio of the vehicle, as despite having a super-heavy W16 engine in the middle, the car only weighs 1240 kilograms and has a power-to-weight ratio of 1 metric horsepower per 0.67 KGs.

The low weight has been made possible due to a superlight tub and subframe made from ‘exotic materials’, magnesium wheels, titanium screws, and other titanium alloy compound components that have been used throughout the car.

All of the aforementioned components and an incredibly buttoned-down and tight chassis allows the Bolide to go around the Nurburgring (One of the most famous and brutal test tracks in the world) in less than 5 and a half minutes, making it one of the fastest cars ever produced in the world.

However, all of that power and performance would likely come at the cost within which a person could buy an entire city. Plus, the owner wouldn’t get to keep their cars either, as they are not allowed on the road by Federation Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) as it doesn’t comply with the road car standards set by the association.

It can only be had by the owners for track-days, after which, the company will take it back to their storage. Still, there are a precious few who wouldn’t care about the challenges and would buy the car anyway, because it’s just that good.
