In a recent update obtained by ProPakistani from a credible source in the auto industry, Al-Haj shall be discontinuing the First Automobile Works (FAW) V2 hatchback in Pakistan soon.
The source informed ProPakistani that the V2 hatchback was discontinued in China back in 2016, and now that the automaker has also ceased the production of its spare parts, the car has become obsolete, and its days in Pakistan are numbered.

The V2 was launched in Pakistan back in 2014 as a cheaper alternative to the likes of Suzuki Swift. The vehicle has a 1.3-liter Dual Overhead Cam (DOHC) naturally aspirated four-cylinder petrol engine with variable cam timing (VCT) technology that made 90 horsepower, 120 newton-meters of torque, and is mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox.
Despite being a 13oo cc relatively comfortable, albeit slightly under-equipped hatchback, the FAW V2 was arguably one of the few ‘good value for money’ brand new cars in the Pakistani market. Last year, The price of the FAW V2 went from Rs. 1.57 million to Rs. 1.61 million, which is still Rs. 400,000 cheaper than its competitor, i.e., the Suzuki Swift.
Although the interior quality of FAW V2 is nothing to write home about, the car has all the basic features that you would expect at the price point, i.e., power windows, power steering, digital odometer, a decent A/C, front disc brakes w/ABS technology, the driver and passenger side airbags as standard, etc.

FAW V2 was one of the better commuter cars in the Pakistani market that offered a lot of promise. However, due to maintenance issues and the ever-pertinent resale value concerns of the Pakistani car buyers, the car sadly couldn’t quite cut it in a market dominated by the Japanese contenders.
Now that the Chinese hatchback is nearing extinction, it is uncertain as to whether or not we would see a replacement to this fine little budget car in Pakistan ever again.
