The ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 produced an epic finale, where the two finalists couldn’t be differentiated even after the Super Over. The hosts, England, were declared the winner on boundary count, which raised plenty of eyebrows over ICC’s rules and regulations.
To ensure that it never happens again, Australia’s Big Bash League (BBL) rules have been tweaked when it comes to tied matches, especially in the knockout fixtures.
In case of a tie in the regular overs, the teams will play a Super Over. If the match is not decided in the Super Over, another Super Over will be played. Teams can play unlimited Super Overs until there is a clear winner. This will be applicable in the finals, or knockout games i.e. the semi-finals and the final.

The new rule will only be implemented in the upcoming edition of both men and women’s Big Bash League.
