Central Punjab made a magnificent comeback in the Quaid-e-Azam trophy to qualify for the final. Central Punjab defeated Southern Punjab by ten wickets in the final round to book their place in the final for the second consecutive season.

The defending champions lost their first three games of the tournament under captain Azhar Ali and were winless in four before captain Hasan Ali inspired them to three consecutive victories. Central Punjab was at the bottom of the table after five rounds. The team then went on to win four of their last five matches, moving to second place in the table, ahead of Southern Punjab and Northern.

The final will be played between KPK and Central Punjab from January 1 at National Stadium Karachi.

KPK has been the team to beat throughout the tournament, registering five wins out of ten matches and topping the table with 161 points. Northern and Southern Punjab’s inconsistent performances in the tournament led them to finish out of the top two spots in the final standings.

KPK faced Northern in the tenth round, and the match ended in a draw, which meant Northern finished fifth on the table.

Meanwhile, Balochistan defeated the bottom of the table Sindh by nine wickets to finish fourth. Furthermore, Southern Punjab’s defeat left them on third after ten rounds of play.
