Hono launched the mid-range Play 3 earlier this month and has now quietly unveiled a toned-down version of the smartphone under called Play 3e. It sports a basic design and decent specifications for its price.
Design-wise, the smartphone features a textured back with a single sensor camera housed on the top left. On the front, this entry level phone comes with a 5.71-inch dewdrop notch LCD display with HD+ (720p) resolution and 19:9 aspect ratio.
Overall, it doesn’t have any interesting design elements, but considering the price bracket, we aren’t expecting much. It will be available in Black, Gold and Blue colors.
As for the innards, the smartphone is powered by a MediaTek Helio P22 chipset topped with 2 GB or 3 GB RAM and 32 GB or 64 GB of storage. The storage is expandable via a dedicated memory card slot.
On the software front, the smartphone runs on Android 9.0 Pie out of the box with an EMUI 9.1 skin.
Camera-wise, Honor Play 3e is pretty basic, the rear camera features a single 13 MP f/1.8 lens. On the front, Honor has installed a mere 5 MP sensor with f/2.2 aperture for selfies.
Honor Play 3e is fueled by a 3020 mAh battery with no fast charging and an old school Micro USB 2.0 port.
The 2GB/32GB variant costs $99 and the 3GB/64GB variant costs $127. The phone is currently available in China only.
