Huawei is ready to take on the iPad Pro with the release of its latest tablet dubbed the Huawei MatePad Pro. The device has made its debut as the most powerful Android tablet to date, with top of the line specifications and a remarkable pen of its own that goes toe to toe with the Apple Pencil.

It has a 10.8-inch QHD+ display that boasts a 90% screen to body ratio with extremely thin bezels and a very large punch-hole selfie camera placed in the corner. These bezels are only 4.9mm thick and the whole package weighs about 460 grams.

The Huawei MatePad Pro draws power from the flagship-grade 7nm Kirin 990 SoC with 8GB of RAM and 512GB internal storage. The storage capacity is further expandable via a nano SD card slot.

The camera department includes a 13-megapixel main camera with phase detection autofocus and an LED flash. The front camera inside the punch-hole cutout is an 8MP lens with an f/20 aperture.

It has a massive 7250 mAh battery that can be topped up through the 40W fast charging support on-board. The MatePad Pro also supports 15W wireless charging and 7.5W reverse wireless charging.

It boots Huawei’s custom EMUI 10 skin on top of Android 10 fresh out of the box. It has a unique feature that can clone a phone’s screen on the tablet’s display to help answer phone calls directly through the tablet and also allow seamless file transfer between the two devices. Attaching the keyboard puts the device into computer mode where the OS starts functioning more like a desktop PC.

The tablet’s stylus, known as the M-Pencil, has a 4096-level pressure sensitivity nib and can be charged wirelessly by simply attaching it to the slate.

The Huawei MatePad Pro will go for sale in China on December 25 with the following starting prices:

WiFi-only Edition 8GB/256GB: $711

LTE Enabled 8GB/512GB: $853
