Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast 10% more rainfall than usual across the country during the upcoming monsoon season.
According to the official statement by the PMD, Sindh and Azad Jammu & Kashmir regions will receive 20% more rainfall than normal.

PMD has directed governments of both Sindh and Azad Jammu & Kashmir to undertake precautionary measures to avoid loss of life and property during the monsoon season.
PMD had issued a similar warning to the Sindh government last year before the arrival of the monsoon season.
Around 27 people perished in rain-related accidents after two days of torrential downpour in Sindh. Most deaths were reported in Karachi caused by electrocution or imploding of residential structures.

Besides, PMD has predicted high floods in the western rivers during the monsoon season. It also forecasts urban flooding in cities and flash floods in hilly regions.
While the monsoon season will be favorable for the rice crop in Pakistan, it will bear a negative impact on cotton yield, as per PMD.
