Microsoft, at its Game awards event today, finally announced its next-generation Xbox Series X.
The console will go on sale during the 2020 holiday season and will be the company’s fastest and most powerful game console yet. According to Microsoft, it will set new standards for performance, speed, and compatibility.
Based on the teaser, the console has a cuboid shape and looks a lot like a PC. It is specifically designed to be used in both, vertical and horizontal, positions. Apart from having a parallelepiped shape, the console will also have a vent hole on the top.
The power button is housed on the top left with an Xbox logo on it. Just below the power button, the console will come with an optical drive and to its right, there will be a standard USB interface.
Microsoft’s Xbox chief, Phil Spencer, promised that the console will “deliver four times the processing power of Xbox One X in the quietest and most efficient way.”
The company has also revealed that the series will showcase HellBlade 2, a new game from Ninja Theory, being designed for the next generation console.
Via The VergeEven though Microsoft has revealed the design, it has not exactly specified what features the console will come with. However, the Xbox X series will include a custom-designed CPU that will be based on AMD’s Zen 2 and Radeon RDNA architecture.
Apart from this, the console will support 8K gaming, 120 fps frame rates, variable refresh rate support, and ray tracing. It will also feature NVMe SSD which will reduce the game load time.
Moreover, the Xbox X series will also include Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM) and Dynamic Latency Input (DLI) that according to Spencer will “make Xbox Series X the most responsive console ever”. He also said, “The series is designed for a future in the cloud, and it will combine hardware and software to make it as easy as possible to bring great games to both console and elsewhere.”
