Pakistan head coach and chief selector, Misbah-ul-Haq has been appointed as Islamabad United’s head coach following Dean Jones’ sacking on Wednesday.
Earlier, the former head coach’s video surfaced where he told his fans that he will be parting ways with the PSL franchise this season. He added that the owners have decided to move on and that he wishes the Islamabad team best of luck.

While Misbah’s appointment hasn’t been officially announced by Islamabad United, it is understood that he had already signed for the role before taking up the coaching job for Pakistan.
The appointment might lead to a conflict of interest as other franchises are against Misbah’s multiple roles. In Mickey Arthur’s tenure – who also coached Karachi Kings – there were similar debates. Inzamam-ul-Haq and Tauseef Ahmed’s affiliation with Lahore Qalandars also came under scrutiny as they were barred from the PSL draft committee.
Reportedly, the other five franchises have already submitted their reservations on Misbah’s appointment in the league.
