Pakistan has achieved major milestones in the fight against Coronavirus.
Recently, the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) approved a ventilator designed locally by Alsons, a Karachi-based group specializing in the manufacturing of mechanical components.
In July, NRTC had started the commercial manufacturing of Pakistan’s first locally built ventilator named “SafeVent SP100.”

NRTC’s annual manufacturing capacity of 250 ventilators will be increased to 700 in a few months that will put Pakistan among the handful of countries that export indigenously manufactured ventilators.
In the early days of the Coronavirus outbreak in Pakistan, the country relied on imported essential medical equipment such as PPEs, goggles, face masks and shields and hand sanitizers as it could not locally manufacture all these on a large scale back then.
However, Pakistan Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (PCSIR) soon started the manufacturing of PPEs and hand sanitizers in Pakistan which successfully fulfilled local demand.
Pakistan has now become a major exporter of PPEs after receiving export orders worth $100 million.
