The higher-end variants of Nvidia’s RTX 3070 and 3080 GPUs are expected to launch in the upcoming months. New details for the RTX 3070 Ti and the 3080 Ti have emerged once again, detailing what to expect from the upper-end models.
Considering the semiconductor shortage plaguing the world right now, it seems like an odd decision to launch even more graphics cards when previous models aren’t even in stock around the world. In any case, Nvidia plans to launch the RTX 3070 Ti and 3080 Ti in April and May respectively. The core configurations of these graphics cards are the same as way saw in previous reports, but they may see a slight modification upon release.
The RTX 3080 Ti 12GB is expected to feature the PG132-SKU18 PCB design and the GA102-225-KD-A1 graphics core. It will now feature up to 10240 CUDA cores and a total of 80 SM units. There will be 12GB of GDDR6X memory with 19 Gbps memory speed, the same as the base RTX 3080. It will be using a 384-bit bus interface that translates into 912 GB/s of bandwidth.
The TGP is going to be 320 watts, which is most likely to feed the extra cores.
As for the 3070 Ti, it is expected to feature the GA104-400-A1 GPU and the PG141-SKU10 board. There will be 4% more CUDA cores than the GeForce RTX 3070 and 30% less than the RTX 3080. It will feature 8 GB GDDR6X memory which will utilize higher-grade GDDR6X chips compared to the standard RTX 3070.
In terms of TGP, the RTX 3070 Ti will be close to the RTX 3080 with 250-275W, but it will retain a 256-bit bus interface and 19Gbps memory speeds.
Just as before, Nvidia has promised to limit the hash rate on these graphics cards to make them useless to miners. However, we have already seen miners use hacks and mods as a workaround, so that does not matter anymore.
