The annual matric results of Karachi have exposed the claims of the Sindh government’s supposedly effective education policies. As per results, only 9 percent of students from public schools have passed matric exams this year.

While the Sindh government claims to have spent billions of rupees to improve public schools, it has not translated into results so far.

Statistics from the Board of Secondary Education Karachi (BSEK) show that a total of 110,924 students passed matric exams. Out of which only 10,085 students were from government schools.

A breakdown of the grades attained by the government schools’ students sketches an even scarier picture.

According to the results, out of nearly 111,000 students appearing in science examinations, only 5,206 boys and 10,688 girls achieved an A1 grade. Out of these, only 26 boys and 148 girls (merely one percent) were from government schools.

Similarly, 13,329 boys and 17,279 girls secured A1 grades in total, with only 258 boys and 852 girls were from government schools.

Likewise, just 931 boys and 1,836 girls from public schools obtained B grades, 2,204 boys and 1,593 girls attained C, while 1,822 boys and 353 girls cleared matric exams with a D grade.
