BBK-owned, Chinese smartphone maker Oppo has just launched the world’s first smartphone powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 460. The company did not go forward with a proper launch event, instead launched the latest entry to its lower-tier smartphones rather quietly. Overall, the handset is reasonably spec-ed and comes in two cool colors.
Design-wise, the smartphone looks like Oppo V19’s twin. It has a similar camera bump and the same paint job mimicking rays of light to give an illusion of a glass build. It is available in two colors: Electric Black and Fancy Blue.
At the front, it is built around a 6.5-inch LCD panel with 1600 x 720 pixels resolution, 90Hz refresh rate, 20:9 aspect ratio, and a single punch-hole at the top left.
As mentioned, the device is the first to sport Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 460 mobile platform. The SoC is topped with 4 GB RAM and 64 GB onboard storage. The smartphone boots with ColorOS 7.2 based on Android 10.
Other features of this handset include a microSD card slot to expand storage up to 256GB, 3.5mm headphone jack, and a USB Type-C port.
As compared to other entry-level devices, Oppo A53 2020 has taken camera specs up a notch. At the back, the handset comes with a 12MP (wide) + 2MP (macro) + 2MP (depth) triple camera setup besides the fingerprint sensor.
For selfies, it is equipped with a 16 MP single sensor.
The smartphone packs a 5000 mAh battery with 18W fast charging. Most entry-level smartphones top at 10W fast charging.
Oppo A53 2020 is up for pre-orders in Indonesia starting today until August 26 at a $169 retail price.
