The recovery rate among COVID-19 patients in critical condition who were admitted to ICU stood at 60% during the trials.
Moreover, the IVIG treatment significantly brought down the hospitalization period among both seriously and critically ill Coronavirus patients from 20-25 days to 5-7 days.
Dr. Shaukat Ali, Head of Biotechnology Department at DUHS, has said that Pakistan became the first country to develop IVIG treatment for COVID-19 in April this year.

DUHS developed the IVIG treatment by chemically purifying the plasma extracted from the blood donated by Coronavirus patients after recovering from the disease.
Once administered, the IVIG treatment neutralizes the virus and stabilizes the immune system while the antibodies in IVIG stops the secondary bacterial infection, said Dr. Shaukat.
