5G enabled mid-range smartphone chips are becoming more common as affordable 5G handsets become more popular. The latest one to join the fray is Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 732G chipset that is an upgraded version of the 730 and 730G. This is the same chip that was rumored earlier this month and it is now finally official.

The two main upgrades with the new SoC are improved CPU and GPU performance. The main CPU core now comes with a higher clock speed of 2.3GHz while the Adreno 610 GPU brings a 15% improvement compared to the Snapdragon 730G. Other than that, the Snapdragon 732G is mostly the same as the Snapdragon 730G.
The chip is based on Samsung’s 8nm LPP process and it comes with eight Kyro CPU cores, 2 of which are performance cores and 6 are efficiency cores. The microarchitecture on these cores is based on ARM’s Cortex A76 and A55.
It also comes with Snapdragon’s elite gaming features such as Qualcomm Game Jank Reducer, True HDR, anti-cheat extensions, and more. It also includes support for Qualcomm quick charge 4+, 4K HDR video capturing, 120Hz FHD+ displays, multiple cameras, etc.
Qualcomm has confirmed the availability of the Snapdragon 732G chipset for a future Poco phone. The name of this upcoming phone is still unknown, but since the Poco X2 features the Snapdragon 730G, we expect the successor to boast the Snapdragon 732G.
