Former Pakistan legendary bowler Abdul Qadir has suggested Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to retain the services of Sarfaraz Ahmed as captain of all formats and groom Babar Azam as his replacement.

Speaking to media, Qadir emphasized that the captain alone should not be held responsible for failing to reach the semi-finals of the World Cup.

Sarfraz is a match-winning captain and has shown his fighting spirit several times. I think he should continue leading in all the three formats.

However, Qadir added that Babar Azam should be groomed as the future captain and he should be made deputy to Sarfaraz in the meanwhile.

Sarfraz may take the decision to retire after two to three years and till that time Babar will be able to handle the pressure of captaincy. I believe Babar has to learn a lot before leading the national side. It is time for his grooming and that can be better done by making him Sarfaraz’s deputy.

In order to improve Pakistan’s batting woes, Abdul Qadir said that PCB should appoint Mohsin Hasan Khan as the batting coach. He said that Mohsin is a qualified candidate who has managerial experience as well.
