Banned in the spot-fixing scandal, Sharjeel Khan has requested the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to allow him to participate in the rehabilitation program.

Earlier, the left-handed opener had written to the board to participate in domestic cricket which was turned down. PCB had directed him to take part in its rehabilitation program and confess his role in the spot-fixing scandal.

In Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2016, Sharjeel Khan was involved in spot-fixing during the league, which resulted in a 5-year ban for the cricketer. The ban was later reduced to half by the PCB Anti-corruption tribunal. Islamabad Untied’s batsman, Khalid Latif was also banned for 5 years due to his involvement in spot-fixing during the first edition of the league.

The ban put a halt to Sharjeel’s good-looking career in which he played 25 ODIs, 15 T20Is and a one-off Test.

His ban is expected to end in this month, however, to resume playing competitive cricket, the 29-year-old will have to participate in the rehabilitation program.
