The Sindh government has decided to implement a micro-smart lockdown in Karachi following a surge in the coronavirus cases.
The Sindh Health Department has written a letter to the Additional Inspector General (IG) Karachi Police, all Deputy Commissioners, and Senior Superintendents of Police to implement the lockdown in the port city.
It is, therefore, requested to deploy police force at designated MSLD sites in consultation with concerned District Health Officers.

The government had imposed a countrywide lockdown in March after a spike in infections. The lockdown was lifted in August as the government allowed the resumption of business activities.
From mid-September, educational institutions were also reopened in phases.

The development came after Sindh reported 400 new Covid-19 cases and two deaths in the past 24 hours. Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah said that 297 of the infections were reported in Karachi alone.
Pakistan’s active virus tally stands at 8,908, which had gone down to over 5,000 earlier this month. So far, the country has reported 6,474 deaths from the virus.
