The Supreme Court of Pakistan has rejected a report prepared by the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training and the National Curriculum Council on the Single National Curriculum.

During a hearing on Wednesday, the top court said that it has been 73 years since Pakistan has gained independence but no government has been able to resolve the issue of a uniform curriculum to date.

Chief Justice Gulzar Ahmed termed the report ‘dissatisfactory’ and observed that the government had not taken any concrete measures to develop the curriculum. He retorted,

The Education Ministry will never be able to form a proper curriculum.

The CJ also remarked that it would be better to bring back the curriculum from the 1960s to teach students as it had been developed in accordance with religious studies. He added,

Don’t use the curriculum to play with the lives of students.
