Rawalpindi Excise and Taxation Department has announced that the car owners have only 3 days left to pay the token taxes of their vehicles with a 25% discount. The Assistant Excise and Taxation Officer (AETO) Rawalpindi, Sohail Shahzad reminded the public that they can pay the token tax of their vehicle via the online payment service, E-Pay, and avail the discount by September 30th, 2020.

Shahzad highlighted that, as per the instructions by the provincial excise and taxation department, a new policy has been rolled out to ensure convenience for vehicle and property owners. He further stated that if a resident submits the amount before the appointed deadline, they will be allowed a 20% tax rebate instead of 10%, including a waiver of overcharges on payable amount.

Furthermore, AETO said that the taxpayers shall be afforded the opportunity to gain an additional 5% relaxation on the amount by using the online tax payment service to pay their taxes. The property taxpayers are awarded a 10% tax relief, Shahzad added.

The reports also suggest that if the vehicle owners are found not having paid their token taxes after the deadline, their cars can be seized and owners will be penalized. This rule is said to be strictly enforced, particularly for commercial vehicles.

AETO also requested those who wish to pay the taxes upfront at the office, to book an appointment through the Appointment Management System (AMS), which can be accessed through the department’s own smartphone app. He added that the app has been developed in the interest of providing the public with maximum ease and coping with the ongoing global pandemic.
