Sindh Police has announced to open two more driver’s license branches in Karachi. Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Driver’s License Branch Clifton, Imran Siddiqui, told the media that one of the branches will be opened in Malir and the other one in Kemari.

Siddiqui said that the legal proceedings have been completed for opening both the branches. He added that both the new branches will be operational within two months. Siddiqui further highlighted that after the opening of two more branches, there will be a total of five driver’s license branches in Karachi.

Currently, driver’s license branches are in Clifton, Korangi, and Nazimabad areas of Karachi. Siddiqui said that the establishment of two more branches shall not only offer convenience to the public of the surrounding areas but will also aid the citywide department in ensuring more efficiency in the operations of each branch.

In another relevant development that took place last week, the Additional Inspector-General (IG) of the Karachi Police Department, Ghulam Nabi Memon, directed the city traffic police to reduce challan for motorcyclists. A media report said that the Additional IG has directed traffic police officials to be lenient with motorcyclists and to reduce their challans.

The senior official also stated that action will be taken against wardens that are found taking bribes from motorists. He added that owing to numerous complaints from the public, the department has put the officials on duty under strict surveillance. He also affirmed that officials that are caught taking bribes or behaving rudely, will be dealt with in a stern manner.
