Xiaomi’s sub-brand Huami, following its schedule, has just released its new premium smartwatch dubbed Amazfit GTR.
The device was backed by a number of teasers and was hyped up by the company on the Chinese microblogging site Weibo. It turns out that all that puff was not a lie. Unlike other Amazfit smartwatches, the GTR boasts a 24-day battery life on normal use, going up to 74 days (company estimate) when using it as a watch only.
As compared to other Amazfit smartwatches, the GTR has a premium look. The smartwatch comes in two different sizes: 42mm and 47mm. even though the watches are somewhat different aesthetically, they are identical specification wise.
It comes with an AMOLED display featuring 321 ppi pixel density and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection.
The 42mm model comes in four colors: starry black, moonlight white, cherry powder, and coral red while the 47mm model is available in three colors: aluminum, stainless steel, and titanium.
The 47mm model comes in a limited iron man edition with a red silicone strap. The 42mm variant also has a limited edition Swarovski model.
The Amazfit GTR duo features all the typical sensors and specifications, which includes receiving notifications and remotely controlling your smartphone by issuing controls.
However, the premium series comes with some atypical features like advanced 24-hour heartrate monitoring using BioTracker PPG bio-optical sensors which can report any unusual changes in heart rate. On top of this, it has 12 different modes to detect different sports activities like swimming, skiing, etc.
Both smartwatches are water-resistant up to 50 meters or 5 ATM.
The 47mm model comes with a 410 mAh battery that can run the smartwatch for 24 days on normal use and 74 days on basic mode.
The 42 mm model comes with a smaller 195 mAh battery that can keep the watch charged for 12 days on normal use and 34 days on basic watch mode.
The basic 42mm model is priced at $116 while the Swarovski model is priced at $145. On the other hand, the bulkier 47mm Amazfit GTR with steel construction comes with a $145 price tag, the titanium and iron man edition will cost $203.
All the models are currently available in China however, there is no word on the global availability of these watches.
