More than 78,000 farmers have been registered online since April 8 through the Bardana app, a mobile application that was launched earlier by the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) solely for farmer registration.
The news comes from PITB chairman Afzar Manzoor, who said that the board had successfully launched Bardana Wheat Procurement along with a Four Ledger Management Information System and an Inventory Management System.
He added that these systems are monitoring stocks and wheat delivery mechanisms across Punjab and are playing a vital role in the advancement of the “Wheat Procurement Drive 2020”.
Following the implementation of these systems, more than 389 Food Centres have been registered and over 631,000 tons of total Bardana were issued during the time period. The wheat procured by farmers is recorded through PITB’s wheat procurement mobile app and web portal.
A Payment Scroll has also been introduced that calculates payments against wheat procured by farmers. Several banks and concerned centers have been given access to this system to aid them in calculating payments for wheat sellers.
The Bardana app is not available on iOS but is present on the Google Play Store for Android devices.
