Federal Minister for Energy, Omar Ayub, has said that the government has revamped the power network and distribution system across the country as it is aiming to produce 100,000 MW electricity by 2040.
The minister revealed the development in the National Assembly earlier today during the question-answer hour.

During the session, PPP MNA Naveed Qamar moved an adjournment motion for a debate on the increase in prices of petroleum products.
However, Ayub opposed the motion and said although he is ready for a debate over the matter, the issue should not be taken through an adjournment motion now as the Lahore High Court (LHC) is currently hearing a case on the matter.
In response, Qamar argued that parliament’s rules of procedures allow debate through adjournment motion on matters pertaining to the general public such as an increase in prices of petroleum products.
He added that this would be the first adjournment motion to be taken up during the 2 years of proceedings of the National Assembly.

Qamar said that he had previously tried to move an adjournment motion on the locust swarms but it didn’t draw the attention of the house as well.
The adjournment motion on petrol prices met the same fate in the assembly as the opposition member didn’t push the matter and it was dropped as well.
Last week, while hearing a petition regarding the countrywide artificial petroleum shortage, Chief Justice (CJ) LHC, Qasim Khan, observed that the outrageous increase in petrol prices notified on 26 June instead of 1 July allowed the fuel mafia to make illicit gains worth billions.
