The government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) has installed an automated digital telemetry system on the rivers and nullahs of the province.
KP Chief Minister Mahmood Khan inaugurated the project on Wednesday, under which the telemetry system was installed on five rivers and two nullahs of KP.
These stations include Chakdara and Khwazakhela bridges on river Swat, Jabalot Bridge on river Panjkora, Adezai Bridge on river Kabul, and Munda headworks Shabqadar. The telemetry sensors have also been installed at Kalpani nullah in Mardan and Budhni nullah in Peshawar.

The automated system worth Rs. 60 million will monitor the flow of water in different rivers of the province, particularly in the season of heavy rain and floods.
With the help of this system, the control rooms will get real-time water flow data from the rivers and nullahs. Moreover, the sensors will run on solar energy and save millions to the national exchequer.
The control stations have also been linked with all District Administration departments, Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), the control room, and other concerned departments.
All the relevant authorities will get a timely warning against any emergency to safely evacuate people in the danger zone.
