The government of Sindh has established a dedicated Doing Business Reforms Implementation Unit (DBRIU) in Sindh Investment Department, to ease, improve and enforce further reforms in starting, running and promoting business.
According to details, the doing business reforms implementation unit will coordinate with all related government functionaries, private sector organisations and all other related business stakeholders, so that anyone who wants to start or run a business in Sindh, can easily get licences, permits and other relevant permissions for starting or running a business in the province.
The Sindh government, with the cooperation of the World Bank, has been working actively on ease of doing business reforms programme. It is further pointed out that due to the World Bank’s assisted doing business reforms ongoing programme in all provinces, Pakistan has got improved position in World Bank’s doing business index in this year.
Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah is keen for the improvement of business environment in Sindh and under his directives, a dedicated DBRIU in the office of Sindh Investment department which consists of a director, two managers, and a communication officer had already been actively working.
Pakistan has improved 28 spots on the World Bank’s Ease of Doing Business Index. The country carried out reforms that helped improve its ranking from 136 to 108 among 190 countries.
Sindh and Punjab were the prominent provinces that contributed to this improvement.
