Higher Education Commission (HEC) has unequivocally denounced the news of issuing a letter that claimed that the universities have been directed to shut down campuses and reduce the number of students to 30% of total enrollment amid the rising Coronavirus cases in Pakistan.
Taking to Twitter, HEC termed the letter as ‘fake’ and warned both students and teachers not to pay heed to such announcements.

Moreover, each university will decide to operate or close according to its specific situation.
HEC has also notified that only District Administrations are authorized to shut down any university in case there is an outbreak of COVID-19 on its campus.

Last week, HEC had categorically rejected similar news which claimed that the commission had announced to shut down universities all over Pakistan due to the resurgence of COVID-19.
In the last 24 hours, Pakistan has reported 1,123 new cases and 12 deaths due to Coronavirus. Overall, the country has so far reported 335,093 cases and 6,835 deaths due to Coronavirus.
