The federal government is going to launch a project to increase the production of milk through massive artificial insemination with imported semen that will eliminate the local hardy cow breeds that produce up to 40 liters of milk daily.
An official revealed that milk in Pakistan is expensive and is mostly not available in the pure form primarily due to low production.

In order to increase production, Prime Minister Imran Khan will launch a project worth Rs. 40 billion to import semen that will be available in three years. It will improve the milk production of low cow breeds to 5,000 liters from 1,100 liters.
The livestock sector plays a major role in the agricultural economy of the country. Pakistan produces 59 billion liters of milk per year from 49 million cows.
