At the MWC (mobile world congress) 2019 Huawei Consumer Business Group (CBG) showcased the 5G CPE Pro.
The CPE (Customer Premise Equipment) is designed for ultra-high-speed broadband and intelligent Dual-Link features and was first unveiled in January. The new router has just been made available for reservation in China via the jingdong website.
The router is China’s first 5G all-net communication router and was awarded the title of China’s first 5G wireless data terminal communications equipment on 10th July 2019.
To deliver the promised experience, it uses Huawei’s own proprietary Balong 5000—the world’s first 5G multimode modem chipset. Thanks to the chipset, the router is the first to support the commercial application of 4G and 5G dual-mode operation. The dual-mode operation allows the device to switch the default mode to 4G in case 5G is not available or if the coverage is not strong enough.
Huawei’s 5G CPE Pro utilizes fiber-like speeds of up to 1.6 Gbps in its commercial network for DH communications and multimedia networking. It also comes with a separate video channel and game accelerator channel, which can support 8K videos and VR games.
Another feature the Huawei 5G CPE Pro comes with is HiLink which is a smart home interconnection platform for IoT devices. It is designed for domestic and medium-sized enterprise use.
Richard Yu, CEO of Huawei Consumer Business Group said,
Huawei’s dedication to R&D has continued to push technology and connectivity forward since the beginning, and we’re able to make advancements and drive the 5G sector even in its early stages. We started exploring and investing in 5G back in 2009, and because of this, we’re welcoming and prepared for this new era of 5G. We’re committed to developing smart ecosystems across all sectors.
