Former Pakistan captain, Inzamam-ul-Haq, has resigned from his post as Chief Selector of Pakistan Cricket Team.

He made the announcement during a press conference in Lahore earlier today. Following Pakistan’s early exit from the World Cup, the selection committee, especially Inzamam, came under a lot of criticism.

The 49-year-old said that he met with PCB Chairman and MD Wasim Khan after the World Cup, where he told them about his desire to discontinue working as the Head of Selection Committee.

Talking about the team’s performance in the mega event, the legendary batsman added that despite bowing out of the tournament early, the team had the potential to win the World Cup. If not for the net run rate, the team had a big chance of winning the tournament.

He said that if he is entrusted with any other opportunity by the board, he would definitely consider it. This might well point to his desire to coach the Pakistan cricket team. The former cricketer has successfully worked as Afghanistan’s coach prior to assuming the duties of Chief Selector in Pakistan.
