CEO Moderna, Stephane Bancel, has said that immunity from the company’s mRNA COVID-19 vaccine would last for at least a couple of years.

While addressing a virtual conference, Stephane Bancel, revealed that the company is also working ardently to prove the effectiveness of its vaccine against all variants of Coronavirus.

Moderna, a US-based biotech company, stunned the world in March last year after it announced to have developed the vaccine against the disease caused by the SARS-COV-2 virus.

On 16 March, Moderna started the clinical trials by skipping the animal testing, a decision which had drawn widespread criticism because proving the efficacy of a candidate vaccine in an animal model is a standard practice in vaccine development around the world.

In November, the company revealed that its Coronavirus vaccine is 94.5% effective against COVID-19. A month later, it disclosed that the vaccine is 100% effective in preventing severe cases of COVID-19.

The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) had granted the Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) to Moderna’s COVID-19 vaccine towards the end of the last year. European Commission also approved Moderna’s vaccine for use earlier this week.
