US President Donald Trump has accepted Prime Minister Imran Khan’s invitation to visit Pakistan, a statement from the foreign office has confirmed.

The invitation was extended when Prime Minister Khan called on President Trump in Washington on Monday.

The three-day visit started early on Sunday when Khan arrived in the US via a commercial flight – setting a record for the most down-to-earth visit ever by any head of the country.

Instead of a seven-star hotel, he is staying at the residence of Pakistan’s ambassador to the United States.

On Sunday evening, he addressed the largest convention of overseas Pakistanis at the Capital One Arena in Washington D.C., setting yet another record. More than 20,000 overseas Pakistanis gathered from all over the country attended the convention.

On Monday noon, President Donald Trump welcomed PM Khan at the entrance of the White House. The two leaders held the longest-ever presser at the Oval Office where they candidly responded to questions related to previous tensions between the two countries, military aid, trade, Kashmir conflict, and the Afghan peace process.

Following the press briefing, PM Imran held a one-on-one meeting with President Trump, which was followed by a delegation-level talk between the two countries.

President Trump also hosted a luncheon in honor of Prime Minister Khan.

Army Chief General Qamar Bajwa and DG ISI Lieutenant General Faiz Hameed are also accompanying the premier.
