At a launch event in China, Huawei has launched its previously teased laptop – the Honor MagicBook Pro. The new MagicBook packs significant upgrades over the former variant.
Let’s have a look.
It has a 15.6-inch display with full HD resolution, not chart-topping but not bad either. The bezels around the screen are extremely thin which allow for a 90% screen to body ratio. Huawei claims that the new laptop is more compact than the mainstream 15.6-inch notebooks. Also, the display has full touch screen functionality.
It features an all-metal aluminum alloy chassis that comes in the Glacier Silver color. The front-facing camera is placed under a key on the keyboard, which is a rather awkward angle, but a fair trade for the thin bezels.
Coming to the internals, it has an 8th gen core i7 processor that claims to be 40% faster than its predecessor. The processor is paired with 8 gigs of RAM, 512GB of SSD storage and a discrete Nvidia GeForce MX250 GPU. There are seven built-in temperature sensors that help balance out airflow and reduce fan noise in real-time, which is a nice touch.
The Honor MagicBook Pro draws power from a 56Wh battery that can last as long as 14 hours on a single charge.
As for connectivity, there’s a 3.5mm audio jack, Dolby Atmos support, one USB Type-C, three regular USB ports, and one HDMI port. There’s also a WLAN dual antenna with a maximum speed of 1733Mbps.
The Core i5 model is going for $799 while the Core i7 version will go for $901. There’s also a top-end model with 16GB of RAM and 1TB SSD, but Huawei hasn’t announced its price yet.
The regular i5 and i7 variants will go on sale from July 29 whereas the top-end model will launch at a later date.
