The Supreme Court (SC) of Pakistan has allowed Air Marshal Arshad Mahmood Malik to continue as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) for a month.
As per details, the SC has adjourned the hearing of the case regarding the revocation of Arshad Malik’s appointment till 20 April and has directed the Air Marshal to appear before the court in personal capacity.

In December last year, the Sindh High Court (SHC) had declared the appointment of Arshad Malik as CEO PIA void and barred him from discharging official responsibilities.
PIA’s Senior Staff Association (SSA) had moved the SHC against the appointment of Arshad Malik, contending Malik neither has the required educational background nor adequate experience to lead the aviation industry.
Later in January, Arshad Mahmood Malik moved the SC contending he should be allowed to continue serving as the CEO PIA. But the SC rejected Air Marshal’s review petition.
However, now the SC has allowed Arshad Malik to continue serving as the CEO PIA for a month.
The SC has also summoned SSA representatives for the next hearing of the case on 20 April.
On 11th October 2018, the federal cabinet had approved the appointment of Air Marshal Arshad Mahmood Malik as the Chairman of PIA. Later, on 2nd April 2019, Arshad Mahmood Malik was appointed at the post of CEO of PIA.
