Last month, an illustration detailing the camera specifications of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra was making rounds on the internet. Recently, the information was endorsed by Ice Universe, a tipster with an authentic track record.

According to the image, the smartphone will flaunt the company’s upcoming 108MP ISOCELL HM3 sensor with 0.8 µm pixels, 9-in-1 binning support, and Super PD autofocus as the main sensor. Samsung claims that the sensor will have a 12% better light sensitivity than the previously launched HM1 sensor. Moreover, the resolution is enough to provide 3x lossless digital zoom.

The main sensor is accompanied by a dedicated 3x telephoto camera with a 10MP sensor dubbed ISOCELL Fast 3J1. The sensor has 1.22µm pixels and is equipped with Dual Pixel AF. It will be able to zoom beyond 3x but will likely merge data from the wide and 3x tele-cameras to keep the image quality.

The third sensor in the system is the folded periscope lens with the same 10MP 3J1 sensor as the telephoto camera. The sensor is designed to take over once 10x magnification is reached. For comparison, the Note20 Ultra periscope module had a 12MP sensor with 1.4µm pixels.

Last but not least is the 12MP ultra-wide camera using a 1/2.55” IMX563 sensor with 1.4µm pixels. This sensor is the only Sony sensor in the system.

Furthermore, Samsung has decided to stick with the Laser autofocus assist that we saw on the Note20 Ultra instead of having another go at making S20 Ultra’s 3D ToF sensor work.
