Pakistan yesterday reported 3,946 new cases — lowest single day rise in new cases since June 3rd, 2020. Number of lower newer cases is mainly due to weekend back-log and it is said that this back-log will be cleared by Thursday, and that’s when true picture of new cases will surface.

Regardless of weekend back-log, number of new cases seem to have dropped when compared with same period last week, indicating that cases aren’t rising at the very least.

Yesterday we showed that number of new cases have dropped by 10% week over week, and if the trend continues for another week then it will be certain that disease has been control and that its spread is decreasing in the country.

This doesn’t mean that the outbreak is over, instead we need to remain vigilant to make sure that negative trend in new cases is maintained.

This negative trend, and possible arrival of vaccine in September will mean that Pakistan can hope to see an end to Coronavirus outbreak before year end.

Deaths for yesterday, however, remained above 100 as 105 new patients died of coronavirus complications.

Recoveries reached 73,417 as 2,013 patients recovered yesterday. Recoveries stood at 39.7% of total positive cases.

3,236 patients, as of yesterday, were in critical condition and under treatment at ICUs across the country.
