According to the centralized admission policy introduced by Pakistan Medical Commission (PMC), candidates will undergo two stages of entrance tests for admissions in medical and dental colleges.

Candidates will first attempt the entrance test and later the Medical College Admission (MDCAT) test to get admission in medical and dental colleges. The candidates who skip the MDCAT test will not be admitted to any medical college or registered in the PMC.

According to the Admission Policy Year 2020-2021 released on the PMC’s website, candidates will be required to attain 60 percent marks in the MDCAT test while 33 percent marks will be required in the entrance test. Only candidates who obtained 65% marks in HSSC Science will be eligible for the written examinations.

The policy has directed that admissions in all public colleges across the country should be completed by December 31 and by February 15 in private colleges.

Meanwhile, the Sindh government has expressed its concerns over the complexity of the admissions to medical colleges.

In a letter written to the federal government earlier this week, the provincial Health Minister, Azra Fazal Pechuho, had denounced the formation of PMC and said that the Sindh medical and dental colleges will not follow its admission process and will continue with the old one.

The entrance tests in all medical and dental colleges is scheduled for October 18, Sunday.

Ahead of the date, vice-chancellors of five public universities have approached the Sindh High Court (SHC), seeking a ban on PMC and revival of PMDC.
