Social media platform, Twitter, has announced that it was working on a premium version of the application for users who want to build an exclusive following.

Almost two years after the announcement, the company has rolled out its first premium features dubbed the ‘Super Follows’ and ‘Communities’. These features work similarly to Patreon and YouTube membership options.

The Super Follows allows premium users to charge their followers for access to special content. Hence, for a set monthly amount, the Super Followers will be able to view exclusive content and get access to subscribers-only newsletter as well as deals and discounts on your products.

They will also have community access and a special supporter badge. This new feature will allow users to earn directly from their followers. Of course! Twitter will take a cut from these earnings.

The other feature, i.e., Communities, lets users create and join groups that have a particular theme or interest. This will be a lot like Facebook groups. Only the users who have joined these communities will be able to see and interact with posts in the community. This will help individuals come across like-minded people instead of the somewhat randomness of the current timeline structure.

Twitter has not revealed the details regarding the rollout of these features.
