In January this year, Adobe announced that it is stopping its support for the Flash Player plugin and will start blocking the content running on it.
In the wake of this announcement, Microsoft is rolling out an update for Windows 10 devices running on version 20H2, 2004, and older.
The update will delete the Adobe Flash Player installed on the Windows 10 Operating Systems. Once it is installed, it cannot be uninstalled. However, users will have an option to restore the entire operating system to a specific restore point that they have already created.
If you have not created one, you cannot use this option to restore previous settings. Microsoft says that users can try reinstalling windows except for this patch to retain the Flash Player.
Note that if you have manually installed the Adobe Flash Player, then the update will not remove it. Only the Flash Player installed by Microsoft’s OS including Edge will be wiped. If you have a browser plugin on any other third-party browser except for Chrome and Firefox, you will be able to use it.
Nevertheless, it is advised that you don’t use the Flash Player though since according to Adobe it might be subjected to vulnerabilities, malware, and security risks in the future.
This is what the update looks like.
It is currently being rolled out to the masses.
