Pakistan captain Babar Azam has fully recovered from his thumb injury and will lead the side in the upcoming series against South Africa.

Babar was ruled out of the New Zealand tour prior to the start of the T20I series, having suffered a fractured thumb in a practice session. Pakistan’s batting vulnerability was exposed in his absence as Pakistan lost both the T20I and the Test series.

“It was disappointing to miss the matches against New Zealand because the team needed my services. However, I am now ready for the South African series and you will see me in action. I have also started practicing after completely recovering from the injury,” Babar said.

Babar said that the upcoming series against South Africa will be a challenge for Pakistan and appreciated the quality of the South African team. He added that Pakistan will be looking to bounce back after a disappointing tour of New Zealand and termed the series as very important for the side.

Babar also talked about the squad selection for the upcoming series. According to him, Pakistan is not looking to make too many changes to their squad as he believes the players needed the full support of the management and the fans after a difficult tour.

He praised the bowling unit of the team as well and believes they will perform much better in the next series. He added that he will sit down with the management and the new chief selector to select the best possible squad and give deserving players a chance.
