The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has introduced a new code of ethics that aims at addressing conflict of interest issues for board officials.
The latest 27-page ethics code covers every individual working with the PCB or PSL and everyone will have to comply with the code.
As per the new code, everyone will be asked to submit a declaration form along with all the necessary information to the ethics officers, Salman Naseer (who is the board COO) and Areeba Khalil (from the PCB’s legal department), to assess whether a conflict of interest issue arises in any form.
Some of the biggest names that might come under the radar due to the new code are Misbah-ul-Haq, who currently has three roles – head coach and chief selector of the national team, and Islamabad United head coach – Wasim Akram and Urooj Mumtaz.

Both Urooj and Akram are part of the cricket committee in addition to other roles in the Pakistan Super League. It is highly likely that all three big names will have to give up one or two of their positions within the PCB and PSL.
Earlier, former head coach, Mickey Arthur, faced similar issues in terms of conflict of interest because he was the head coach for Karachi Kings as well.
The issue is not a new one and a number of key position holders including Ramiz Raja, Aamer Sohail, Tauqeer Zia, Najam Sethi, Inzamam-ul-Haq, and Tauseef Ahmed, etc. have all been accused of conflict of interest in one way or another.
