IG Punjab, Inam Ghani, has sought assistance from Pakistan Army and Rangers to ensure foolproof security during the upcoming home series against South Africa.
In this regard, IG Punjab has formally written to Interior Ministry, requesting the deployment of 4 companies of Rangers and 3 companies of Army during the tour.

The IG has also asked the Ministry to provide Punjab Police a dedicated helicopter for maximum surveillance.
He has also requested the Ministry to suspend cellular services in and around the venue during the home series.

Meanwhile, the PCB is set to announce the initial 20-member squad for the two-Test match series against South Africa tomorrow. The final 16-member squad will be announced after the end of the mandatory quarantine required by the PCB.
The South African Test squad will depart for Pakistan tomorrow. After arrival, the Proteas will be tested for COVID-19 and will undergo a 7-day quarantine period before commencing practice for the Test matches.
