A young TikToker recently committed suicide in the Tehkal area, Peshawar, after his marriage proposal was rejected.

The 20-year-old Shahzad Ahmad was a frequent TikTok user with 0.3 million followers on the popular video-sharing platform and had also been running a side business with his elder brother.

Shahzad’s brother, Sajjad has filed a report with the local police about the incident that had occurred on Saturday.

He said that he had been looking for his brother but Shahzad had not been in his room. Sajjad had then found him hanging from the ceiling fan in another room. Shahzad was immediately taken to the hospital but did not survive.

“He had been in love with a girl but her father had repeatedly turned down his marriage proposal after which Shahzad had been really depressed and committed suicide,” Sajjad said.

It was also revealed that Shahzad had attempted to take his life a few times earlier for the same reason.

His friend Amir disclosed that he had been approached by a girl claiming to be his fan a couple of years ago. The two had grown close, and Shahzad had proposed to the 16-year-old girl but had been turned down.

“The girl had told him that they would not talk or meet again, after which Shahzad had consumed 50 sleeping pills in order to end his life but he was rushed to the hospital and saved,” Amir said.

After the incident, the two had resumed their relationship and Shahzad had proposed to her again but the rejection had allegedly prompted him to take his life by hanging himself.
